Synopsis:
Ubuntu Waldorf Ikapa looks at how Waldorf Education as part of the worldwide movement deals with the issues of poverty and diversity in South Africa’s Western Cape. The present children of South Africa have not experienced apartheid directly, but their lives are affected by it daily. Waldorf Schools are among many organizations trying to combat the adverse effects of apartheid by promoting equality. Labelled as independent schools they rely mostly on private funding. Many of the schools don’t select their pupils on whether they can pay their fees but on how much they and their parents may benefit from the supportive education. This film explores the many challenges; Educational, social and financial, faced by the children and the schools within the new South Africa.
